Staff members from all seven offices of ARCH Orthodontics recently received training and certification in CPR. Shown (kneeling at right) is Dr. Andrew Chase examining an automated external defibrillator (AED).
This portable electronic device automatically diagnoses the potentially life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias and applies electrical therapy which stops the arrhythmia. This allows the heart to reestablish an effective rhythm.
The trainer was Dave Clifton (standing at right), retired Sharon Parks and Recreation Director, certified by the American Heart Association. Clifton, who regularly gives this special Healthcare Provider Course for medical and public safety professionals, also trains officers at the State Police Academy.
He said everyone should learn CPR, noting that “CPR saves thousands of lives a year.”
Ninety-four percent (94%) of people who suffer sudden cardiac arrest die before reaching a hospital.
Dr. Robert Chavez of ARCH Orthodontics said, “We prepare and practice to handle all contingencies and emergencies.”
ARCH, with offices in Stoughton (Walnut Ave.), Bridgewater, Brockton, Canton, Hyde Park, Randolph and Westwood, offers complimentary initial consultation including digital photos and panoral x-rays.
