A Winning Smile! Orthodontic Patient Wins Mass. Pageant for ‘National America Miss 2014’

Iris Cruzado Rivera Is Named ARCH’s ‘Patient of the Quarter’

(Issued Fall 2014)  — “I am a girl with dreams!” Iris Cruzado Rivera of Dorchester, Mass., told the judges during the 2014 ‘National America Miss’ competition just before she won the coveted 2014 Massachusetts Pageant crown.

During her interview, Iris (with crown in photo surrounded by ARCH Orthodontics staff)) told judges that her Orthodontic treatment helped improve her smile and self-confidence.  She thinks it was a factor in winning the title.  “I really think the doctors at ARCH produced the results that convinced the judges to say, “That is a great smile,’” Iris said.

Next month Iris will represent Massachusetts in the National Pageant in California.  She was recently featured on Telemundo Boston.

Now, Iris’s doctors at ARCH Orthodontics, Dr. Andrew Chase and Dr. Robert Chavez, have crowned her with their practice’s prestigious ‘Patient of the Quarter’ award. Iris is a patient of Dr. Gabriela Marquez in ARCH’s Hyde Park office. In the volunteer arena, Iris has raised money in the Breast Cancer Walk and to support pageant-related expenses.

Iris, a student at Bunker Hill Community College, plans to transfer to UMass and major in Biology.  “My goal is to be a pediatrician,” she smiles. “I always wanted braces but that dream didn’t happen until a few years ago. Dr. Marquez straightened my teeth, giving me the new smile that gave me confidence to enter the pageant. And I know as a doctor, kids will not be so afraid when they see my friendly, beautiful smile.”

National American Miss (NAM) is one of the leading programs for growing confidence in girls. Pageants celebrate America’s greatness and encourage future leaders.  Judging focuses on inner beauty as well as poise and presentation. The NAM Pageant can be a life-changing experience, awarding  scholarships and other prizes to recognize and assist the development of young women. Contestants compete in four areas: formal wear, personal introduction, interview and community service project. Iris sang during the optional talent competition.
