Almost Invisible Braces: No Reason to Be Self-Conscious ARCH Orthodontics’ Styles & Comfort Will Be ‘Music to Your Mouth’

If you’re self-conscious about wearing braces, consider this. During the past year, country singing superstar Faith Hill, age 45 and married to singer Tim McGraw, has been wearing clear braces in some very public places.

She first publicly wore clear braces to the Country Music Awards in Nashville in November, 2012, where she admitted, “I’m getting used to them.” And they didn’t seem to make her self-conscious, considering the program had 13.7 million viewers.

Asked about the braces, Hill said, “I had braces as a kid, but I forgot to wear my retainer after the braces were removed, necessitating additional treatment as an adult.” Faith advises, “Kids, wear your retainer!”

Hill’s clear braces are similar to those prescribed by the doctors at ARCH Orthodontics, according to Dr. Andrew Chase.

In February, 2013, Hill and McGraw made their way along the red carpet as presenters at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. Her smile showed off her braces, though one reporter noted, “They were easy to miss if you didn’t get up close and personal.”

Knowing there would be 40 million viewers didn’t discourage Hill from wearing them. One reporter wrote, “The country songstress made the mouth gear look fashionable with her black J. Mendel gown while walking the Grammy carpet.”

Hill says there’s a lesson here for both adults and kids. Kids should follow their Orthodontist’s instructions, and adults shouldn’t be self-conscious if braces will help to improve their smile, comfort, health and self-confidence. Orthodontic treatment for adults has increased dramatically in recent years, and ARCH patients range in age from 4 – 80+. At ARCH Orthodontics, about 25% of patients are age 21 or older.
