Chai Jewish Center of Canton Hosts ‘ONE NIGHT, ONE LIGHT’ Chanukah Event on Sunday, Dec. 6 at 4 pm

chThe front lawn of ARCH Orthodontics’ Canton office will be the site of a community menorah-lighting to mark the first night of Chanukah and to kick off the holiday season. The ceremony will be held on Sunday, December 6, at 4 p.m., at 800 Washington Street, directly opposite Canton Town Hall.

The program will feature a traditional menorah-lighting ceremony and blessings, festive music, and hot latkes (potato pancakes). It’s expected that several local dignitaries will attend. Every child will receive a flashing, light-up menorah. Following the ceremony, the community is invited to a sit-down Chanukah dinner at the Chai Jewish Center, 576 Washington St, Canton. The 8-day holiday of Chanukah commemorates the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem following the surprise victory by the Maccabees over the much larger Seleucid Empire army in the year 166 CE.

Of note, ARCH is pleased to once again sponsor this multi-denominational display which will include Christmas decorations provided by Saint Gerard Majella Parish Church of Canton.

The ‘One Night, One Light’ celebration is organized by Rabbi Mendy and Rivka Horowitz of the Chai Center of Canton, which is dedicated to outreach and education. The Center’s mission is to reach out and create a warm, welcoming atmosphere for Jews to explore and experience their heritage in a welcoming environment.

Hosting the outdoor festivities is ARCH Orthodontics, the ‘Official Orthodontist of Miss Massachusetts’, which has 8 offices in addition to the Canton location.
